Reflective practice allows team members to explore and learn from their experiences in the workplace. Through the exploration of complex scenarios that have left the member with feelings of uncertainty, reflective practice uses thoughtful and reflective analysis, with the aim of reaching a point of new understanding or resolution for the person presenting their challenge to a broader group.
This differs from supervision, which whilst also reflective, is related to the continuing professional development of the team member and can encompass exploration of particular clinical scenarios, new learning directly related to practice. This is often delivered in 1:1 or group settings. Clinical Supervision is also connected to review of operational demands and identification and planning towards professional goals for the supervisee.
